I'm sorry, that trailing umbilical cord freaks me out too much to pay attention to the message.

Vacation

Next week, I go on vacation to Block Island, Rhode Island.

Here's the link to a webcam so you can try to spot me!

But meanwhile, for this week I have five Follies of the Madmen for your viewing pleasure. And the queue is filled with great items that will launch automatically while I'm gone.

Everyone play nice, and continue the parade of weirdness.

Thanks once more to all our loyal participants and readers, who are true friends!

News of the Weird / Pro Edition (May 31, 2010)

It's like this: Oh, I could post-up today, if I wanted to. However, my syndicate's editors are taking the U.S. Memorial Day holiday today and won't be around until Tuesday morning. So this week, I'm posting Tuesday morning. They're also going to take off on Monday, July 5th (for U.S. Independence Day), Monday, September 6th (U.S. Labor Day), and probably Monday, October 11th (U.S. Columbus Day), so I'll be posting on Tuesday mornings those weeks, too. I, personally, don't observe "holidays"; they are an evil, idleness-encouraging, European-statist- and labor-union-induced drain on America. See you tomorrow!

Altergott + Hernandez = Greatness

image

While we wait for our banner-artist Rick Altergott to finish his concluding installment of RAISIN PIE, we will have to content ourselves with these great covers he did for two Gilbert Hernandez graphic novels. I just finished reading both of them, and they are of course superb.

The third one, due out at the end of this year, seems to lack the distinction of Altergott cover imagery, but will no doubt repay your attentions as well.

New Fuel

Those crazy dudes setting off two litre bottles by dropping Mentos candy into pop have a new trick. Or rather a variation on a theme, a rocket car powered by the candy and soda combination. They're promising a you tube posting on Tuesday. We wait with bated breath! (spelling corrected 5/31 per popular demand)

No Food, No Water Equals Mars

So follow the logic. Watch the clip until the end and you will learn the reason India wants to study this man is so they can send people to Mars without food and water.

Gettin’ Froggy In Greece

A northern Greece highway was shut down by a horde of frogs. Well, the authorities closed the highway, but it was because cars were skidding off the road to avoid all the frogs. Wonder when the rest of the plagues will come.
