When the Circus Comes to Town

I have no idea of the provenance of this half-hour compilation. Shown at cinemas before the main feature? Whatever the case, it has everything. Cornball music, girly cheesecake, animated cartoon, stop-motion cartoon, narration by a chimp. Also, the highly disturbing image reproduced below. Somehow I feel it relates to the "horse fondling" theme of yesterday.

The Animation of Joop Geesink

We marvel at films like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, or Wallace and Gromit, in which, during a given scene, one or two puppets might be in motion. I can't fathom the amount of work that Joop Geesink went through to create his films.

Morph, the UK Gumby

I never knew before about Morph, the forerunner of Wallace & Gromit. On first glance, he seems less weird and manic than either Gumby or W&G.

Gumby on the Moon

I tend to forget--and perhaps a younger generation never knew--just how weird Gumby was, right from his first adventure, seen here.
