No injuries reported! What kind of a riot is that!

"Thanks for that on-the-spot report, Les. For those of you who've just tuned in, the Pinedale Shopping Mall has just been bombed with live turkeys. Film at eleven!"

Salmon Lips needs a smack upside the head.
And as for the rioters....do you think drugs/alcohol may have been involved? I don't get the riot mentality in cases like this. Don't like disco music? Change the channel. There is no need to destroy a field.

Was anybody Kung Fu Fighting in this riot?
Posted by Jules in Connecticut on 02/05 at 11:03 AM
No but I'm going to get all shook up if'n y'all don't quit punnin' around.

Instead of fighting, they should all just do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight.

Just so happens that The Smith's "Panic" should start playing as I clicked the comments field.
"Burn down the Disco,
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
Says nothing to me about my life.
Hang the blessed DJ"

There was a rock station, WDAI, in Chicago, that dated back to the mid 60's. It started as one of those "underground FM stations" that were a fresh, creative, hip alternative to top 40 pop music.
The management decided, in the late 70's, that disco was the new thing, the cool thing, the new artform that was sweeping the nation and they were going to be part of it. Thus this chubby DJ in the video was told to start playing disco music.
Rock-lovers are very passionate. They did not want to lose something they loved and struck back with the exuberance of youth. They were sending a message to WDAI. This was more a corporate protest than a disco-hating rally.
Now that I have moved away I realize that Chicago is a "Music Capitol". That is one of the things I miss about that cold-ass city.

That chubby DJ is Steve Dahl. He was a bit of a Chicago legend and is still on the air. I remember when this happened. I still think its awesome!

I wasn't a fan of his until then. After that I decided he was OK.
