Sloped Writing
It's not a bad idea, though it has no chance of ever becoming widely adopted. Inventor Paolo Bizziocchi proposes that it would be easier to read text if it were sloped downhill from left to right, so that each new line would be at the same height as the line just finished. This would allow "a quick-reading without mistakes and delays whatsoever."Bizziocchi filed a patent that includes this helpful illustration:
What I don't understand is how this was patentable. People have been writing with lines at all kinds of crazy angles ever since writing was invented.

I read the whole thing before I realized it was just an example and not thepatent information. It looks like Bizziocchi just photocopied this sheet out of a book. It has that same basic look to it. Wouldn't a more gradual slope work better than it leveling out a fifth of the way in?

the patent would probably cover printers that are made to print like that. no way it will catch on. it would drive me nuts, and i dobt i'm the only one.

This is silly. I can get almost the same effect by opening a book to the middle and plopping it down on a copier. Since it's not flat, the words on the left are all tilted. That's actually what I thought he did when I first saw it. It's just missing that professional looking black bar along the edge of the page where the copier's light couldn't reach.
