Life Imitates Art

Here are two commercials to watch. I believe that you will see a startling similarity emerge that will shake you to the core (or maybe just halfway to the core).

So far, so good. It's your basic ad for cosmetics, showing a heavily airbrushed woman who looks somewhat like an android (gynoid?), poncing around in an empty, black, out-of-focus room, interspersed with product shots against a stark white background. (I'm always a little saddened when the real product doesn't create lines of light in contour around my wife's face.) I don't know to much about the product's specific properties.

What I know for sure is that it bares a startling similarity to a fictional product I have seen before.

That's awesome, kingmonkey. It does bear a remarkable resemblance to the real thing. There's one (more) beauty product I won't be buying!

I always knew, kingmonkey, that if you were able to post things on the Front Page that they'd be gems! Some people are just born weirder than others. You're a natural. wink

This is pretty old news I think.

It may be "old news" but the fact that nobody (I've seen) has brought the comparison side-by-side makes it appropriate for WU. The thing I found spookiest is the use of the helix product model in both cases. That CAN'T be a coincidence! And I think Expat is right... there's a lawsuit in the air, started by our very own kingmonkey!

I won't be buying this product either... *shudder*

I'm about 99% sure the resemblance has been noted on WU before (Chuck maybe?) however the video clips do help out those of us who spend hours puking after watching 5 minutes of resident evil.

Not on WU, but on Alex's other site, the Museum of Hoaxes, a couple of months back.

It was suggested to Alex by a certain "kingmonkey"... hmmm

That's pretty freaky. LOL. I know I won't be using THAT product...
