Ooooh the tramp stamp. I'm a tattoo artist and I'd say more than 50% of the pieces I put on my female clients are on the lower back. One girl wanted a pink lace thong tattooed on. No lie. Just on her butt...didn't want it to wrap around like a real pair of undies...because she can't get her thongs to stay as high up as she likes. Um.

Paul, your link to the definition of Tramp Stamp should have linked to Urbandictionary. "A tattoo above a woman's ass crack"

Good point. Is there a male tramp stamp?

Patty - you are NEVER too old! I just put a nice little piece on a friend of mine's upper breast last night (a couple of pansy blossoms) and she just turned 60!
Paul - male tramp stamps are less common in the straight community, but in the gay community they have become popular (though not yet competing with the seemingly endless stream of teen girls). For obvious reasons. Also popular amongst discerning men looking to accentuate a bodily feature (and I think as ridiculous as a tramp stamp on girls) is what I call the cock stamp - a design (usually "manly") right on the pelvic bone above the start of his junk - which are usually shaved, also to accentuate size/length. Like women who do facial contouring with makeup, men like designs that will visually elongate a feature - lightning bolts, wings, etc. But, in my experience, these guys are the same as those with big long sports cars - it's always compensating for something!!

A serious question here. Do "good girls" ever get these tatoos? By good girls I mean morale, not promiscuos girls who have respect for their bodies?

I don't think that "tramp stamps" are necessarily distasteful or a sign of promiscuity or at least I hope not. I personally love tattoos and have several, none that I'd consider the male equivalent of the "tramp stamp" though.
Those were some pretty funny tattoos though.

you can't assume that a girl is slutty just because she has a tatoo regardless of where it is.

My brother has a tramp stamp and he is straight. I think.

Well, I got my lower back tattoo quite a while ago (pre-tramp stamp but not by much) and decided to expand into a nearly full back piece...mostly because I didn't want people to think it was another tramp stamp!! Sadly, the lower back is one of the most beautiful parts of the female body and is thus a terrific place for a tattoo. Of course, most of these tramp stampers do it so whoever is behind them has something to look at during sex. Seriously, that's what they tell me! As I tell all my clients, "if you're not getting a piece for yourself, then I won't put it on you." Yes, I lose business that way but I at least get to keep my principles!
Anyway, sluts like to advertise any which way they can - after tramp stamps it'll be something else.

Good for you! I never understood the getting a tattoo just to get one mentality. I've been asked about why all my tattoos are in places that you can't normally see (except when I wear shorts) and my answer is always that I didn't get tattoos for other people to look at, they're for me.
I've always thought about getting a full back piece and will eventually, but that's a little ways down the road.

I have two tatts, one on either hip. I always forget about them, but I got them where they are so I can have the selective freedom to alert those who I want as to their existence. I got mine when you were still slightly naughty for getting them, so with the prevalence they have today, I'm still surprised at how they have become a showpiece for fashion and society, when before they seemed to have the opposite effect.

mdb777 - the biggest tattoo-related decision I have ever made was to put a small "hand of the creator" on my arm, a few inches up from my wrist. It's tiny, just a fine outline. Definitely the smallest piece I have - BUT it was the first that was out there for the world to see. It wasn't going to be my secret to keep and control.
Unfortunately, most people do get inked for others. I often have to remind myself that we live in a culture obsessed with customization and a growing trend towards "mass-uniqueness." That can be seen as a negative, but I rather choose to see it as what will encourage more people to see tattoos in a different, more positive and artistic light. Currently, the fastest growing tattoo-client demographic is young professionals between 30 and 50 who make $70,000+ a year. Perhaps one day this kind of interest and tolerance will spread into the workplace and other more conservative institutions. It sure does make it more interesting for me as an artist!

Here is a tattoo artist I used to work with from Athens, GA. As an artist/graphic designer I have a lot of respect for this guy. He is a great example of someone doing what they love simply because they love what they are doing. If you are contemplating getting a tattoo you can contact this guy and he will point you to someone local that is reputable. He's a really nice guy. Anyways, eccentric artist deserve a place in WU so here is a link and some good examples of great tattoo artwork:

I think this is his more recent stuff. The page navigation is all screwy so you gotta float your mouse over everything to access all the content.

perfect! with that name in mind the obvious tat would be in the same spot and read 'enter below' or on the butt cheeks left 'enter' right 'here'.
