Your Daily Loser & Jury Duty for May 25th
Your Daily Loser
- Pauline Terry wrote a letter to the police denying that her Club Compass in Ramsgate, Kent was a haven for drug taking. Unfortunately she wrote that letter on a piece of paper that was coated with cocaine. The Story.
- Some morons will do anything for money. For instance, William Cunningham
was recently sentenced to 100 years in prison for poisoning his children's soup in order to extort money from the Campbell's Soup company. The Story.
I'm guessing he won't be getting a card on father's day. (This is also further proof that men with facial hair can't be trusted.)

Sounds like Munchausen syndrome by proxy. I thought this disorder was purely to gain attention, but the definition at Wikipedia reads: "...inflicted upon another person usually for gaining attention or some other benefit." So perhaps to gain attention at first, extended into financial gain while he's at it. Or perhaps just for financial gain. Or financial gain was never a motive, just a rationalized action that he assumed any 'normal' caregiver would pursue in such a circumstance?
The guy could receive the death penalty for all this and be executed tomorrow, I would have no problem with that, but of course the prosecution is not going to allow any argument of a disorder if it can be helped. I expect that's why all mentions of motive are reduced to greed. But, for discussion, perhaps he is afflicted with a disorder. As there was no mention of such a disorder or insanity in the story, should the existence of such been mitigating circumstances? Life long lodging in an institution other than prison?
I want more backstory. Why did this happen in 2006 and just now come out?

Thank you, RevJSH, for attempting to keep me humble. Isn't it great how we can express our opinions without upsetting each other?

Stalin had a mustache; Hitler had a mustache; Ayatolah Khumeini had a crazy beard. I think the facial hair/evil link has been proven.

And then sometimes men with facial hair remove said hair, and the end result can be most disturbing (still haven't gotten over the time my dad, a lifelong moustache man, shaved it off - the horror!). I think this indeed supports the proposition that men with facial hair are not to be trusted - you think you know what they look like, and they can turn on you, just like that!
