Spinning Skyscraper opens next year
Get your reservation now!! A spinning skyscraper being built in Italy will be shipped and assembled in Dubai. The skyscraper slowly revolves and can be set to move different ways. Here's the video with "dramatic" background music.
Here's the web link so you can save your spot on the top floor:

I'm getting motion-sickness just watching the video -- what will happen in the city? (I pity the drunks.)

That's a building I would never step foot into. I just can't imagine it working the way they intend it too and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it when it comes down.

The energy involved in making that thing spin must be enormous. I wonder if you'd be able to hear the movement while you're in the building. I'm assuming the elevator would be in the middle, which presumably doesn't move, but you'd have to reorient yourself every time you got off on your floor.
I have the sneaking suspicion that the architects didn't think of absolutely everything. They just wanted a pretty building. They should have hired me, I'm an expert at pointing out flaws.

I wouldn't be caught in one of those things either, but I thought I remember hearing that there was going to be one built in the US.

my first thought was it they should build one where the towers were. then i read the comments. very good points all. the last thing nyc needs is another building falling down even if it's a structural flaw and not terrorists.

Of course it wouldn't rotate as fast as it does in the videos. I particularly enjoyed the IED going off on Palm Island in the artist's rendering.

Other than proving that Dubai has an economy based entirely on the self-gratification of its rich inhabitants, what would the purpose of this structure be?
To be fair, it would be great in a movie. Imagine the twist it would put on The Towering Inferno.

Twisted Inferno? Wouldn't it effectively fan itself?
How cool would that be?!?

Well contrary to most of the comments, I'd love a high-up apartment in this thing. So... does it come with a personal escape jetpack or would I need to supply my own?
