Isn't this just a slight rewording of the Rockwell Retro-encabulator?

No, it's a slight rewording of the original Time article about the Turboencabulator from 1948. The Chrysler video is from 1988 and the Rockwell video is from 1997. They are both based on the same source material, however.

i call shennanigans! it was like listening to the chief engineer report whats wrong with the enterprise's warp drive on star trek. alot of big words spoken quickly and with confidence to fool you into thinking it's not gibberish.
(i know i know but it sounded that way to me)

Excuse me, Treckie-challenged-Patty, but Scottie never, EVER spoke gibberish!
Posted by Expat47 in Athens, Greece on 10/14 at 08:02 AM
Patti has the right attitude. Most people would assume that these guys, attired as they are, were telling the truth about the device setting on the table when in fact they are spouting pure gibberish.

That was great! The well rehearsed technobabble flowed from that guy flawlessly as if it were real. And the second tech was priceless. A simple head code anyone can catch, manual and song book, burping coming from under the beltline, and my favorite, if the RG is under 10 you'll have to do diagnostic tests that do nothing but increase the billable time. Classic! I can't wait to see the cigarette lighter and ashtray demo!!

mea culpa expat, scottie was an engeneering genius.
kdp, i worked in healthcare at one time. that's where i learned never to assume that someone knows what they are talking about just because they dress the part.
it was probably alot more fun for those of you who could pick out the b.s. because you are trained in the field dc.

by the way, thanks kdp. you are the first person to ever tell me i have the right attitude!

I am absolutely in awe. That controlled, straight faced flow of technobabble had me sitting here with my mouth hanging open, unable to laugh even for fear I'd miss some amazing new fingbobble or doogizmo that I'd not yet heard of.

"...never to assume that someone knows what they are talking about just because they dress the part." Obama and his doctors?

I kept waiting for the references to a "Fetzer valve" and the need to generate "one-point-twenty-one giga watts". I always thought it was just a flammer-jammer and a flibberty-jibbit but I am not trained in auto-mechanics. No wonder it costs so much to have your car fixed. Those are some expensive words they are throwing around there!

So Stan, you just came out of the right wing to inject a little political "humor" into an otherwise politics-free zone? Go away.
Posted by Donny Donutz in De Nile on 10/15 at 09:56 AM
So, DD, you came out of the left wing because my humor touched a sore spot? I think you are a racist.

Now Boys, settle down now! Save it for another blog... We are all here to brighten up an otherwise dreary existence, now to read you two (Or anyone else) firing shots across the bow!
Posted by Wayne in Wildwood on 10/15 at 02:14 PM
Well said, Wayne. I don't want my comments section devolving into a shouting match. Any more fighting and I will have to delete the offending comments.
Posted by Salamander Sam in Chicago on 10/15 at 02:23 PM
Except it should say "NOT to read you two (Or anyone else) firing shots across the bow!" instead of now.
I left my typing fingers at home today....

it's got to be fake. He totally forgot to mention the cabin filters and activate the flux capacitor, before hitting 88mph.
