I had one of these when I was a kid - it was awesome. None of the components was anything special - you could do this on your own without the kit. Basically you peel and carve an apple, soak it in salt water, and then dry it out using a lightbulb as a heat source. This causes the carved face to pucker and have a brown leathery looking appearance. you use beads for eyeballs and teeth, add some hair and you're done.

A craft for the whole family! Just what I always wanted, something my son and I can make together that will give him nightmares.

Nethie, I don't think this would give a 32 year old boy bad dreams.

Pssh. I want to shrink someone's head, I just slip them a spoonful of alum...because it at least FEELS like it.

pfft, I'm still a few years shy of 40, thank you very much. *goes off to find a way to shrink people's heads from a very long distance*

Be careful .. Nethie and Patty can makes things grow large but can also make things shrink and almost disappear if they so desire it.

There is a much easier way to do this....Step 1- Carefully rip skin from skull; Step 2- Sew back into original shape and Boil skin; Step 3- Dry skin by filling with saw dust; Step 4- Prop-up as desired. (I saw it on TV, they say the hardest part is coming up with a cadaver)
<<<---I wanted to come off as creepy, half scary in a funny sort of way; did the smileys achieve that?
