Back of the Mike

Hang in there until they start to show you the sound-effects guys.

From an era when young lads wore dress shirts and ties after supper.

Somehow I picture the Firesign Theater guys doing all this.

Way cool! I love the way they got the hoofbeats - beats the heck out of coconut shells!

GUARD #1: What, ridden on a horse?
ARTHUR: Yes!
GUARD #1: You're using coconuts!
ARTHUR: What?
GUARD #1: You've got two empty halves of coconut and you're bangin'
'em together.

I thought they were using the cups cut from a brassiere and stuffed with sand.

Westerns are not my thing, sorry.

Amazing how the sound is so important....
Even in TV and film the sound is actually more important than the images, for the purposes of story-telling.

You can "listen" to TV from another room, but you cannot watch it without sound (makes no sense)

Very cool flash from the past. Thanks Expat!

KDP, it looked to me as though they were partially inflated rubber gloves.

You're welcome GG, but how did you discover my secret identity was "Paul"?

It's pretty amazing the ingenuity of these sound effects guys.
