Bat Sounds?

Several sources claim that in 1999 one of the top-selling CDs in Europe was titled "Bats." It consisted entirely of the sound of bats flying around.

However, one of those sources is the Weekly World News (May 4, 1999). So not very reliable. And since I can't find any trace of this CDs existence elsewhere (I thought a copy would likely have surfaced on eBay -- but no; or on YouTube -- no again), I'm wondering if the CD was real, or one of WWN's jokes.

The other source that mentioned the CD was the Glasgow Sunday Mail, May 2, 1999. But maybe they got their info from the WWN?

Do any WUvians have the answer to this bat mystery? Was Bats really a European top-seller?

I'd say it's a joke. The WWN's article is next to the "Just for Laughs" bit. The GSM date is before WWN. Maybe WWN got it from GSM?

I could find no other refferences. Except for the label that sells nature CDs, one of them a concert for bats:

The sound of bats wings would creep me out! Seeing as it can't be found anywhere at all now I'd say it was a hoax. Especially if you couldn't verify its existence Alex. After all you are our resident hoaxpert. (hoax expert) 😊

@Patty -- If I had to bet money, I'd actually bet that it's real. Don't know why. It doesn't trigger my hoax spider sense.

Who dares to doubt the veracity of the (now defunct) Weekly World News? That paper always found its way into my shopping bag on a weekly basis.

KDP, who says the Weekly World News is defunct?
They just quit publishing offline. Online's been going strong for years, aside from an occasional revamp-backlash-restore kerfuffle: http://weeklyworldnews.com/

And yes, Bat Boy lives! (Although he's mutating)
