Best Apple Butter in Oklahoma

The judges probably thought it was a bold new take on apple butter.

I can see it happening if she overcooked the preserves to the point they were mushy and then overdid the spices. Apples and peaches are both pome fruits, and when cooked down to nearly nothing, they have a similar general taste and texture.

Probably won first prize because it was unique.

I agree with your theory about the texture of the peaches, but they are a stone fruit not a pome.

My bad -- I thought any fruit in the family Rosaceae was a pome. Now that I've bothered to actually check, I see pomes are in the subtribe Malinae. I guess I'm not as up on taxonomy as I thought I was.

@Expat -- Sorry, but that's a dead link for me, and http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ reports it's down for everyone.

Yea, that's what I said! 😊

@Expat -- I think then you meant 'is down' rather than 'as down.' I took it to mean the site gets to the bottom of things.

Yea, I was attempting to type and express an idea without the benefit of a full enfusion of caffeine. In other words, it was still DC.
