Beverly Massegee and Erick

Evangelical ventriloquism: I tend to suspect no one does it better than Beverly Massegee. (Ie, no one else does it at all.)

I could not find any clips of her and "Erick," so you'll have to content yourself with her "singing."

If she's no better a ventriloquist than a singer I can understand why you can't find any clips.

Actually, there are many that do it, myself included. Although I need sheet music and a bucket to carry a tune. :cheese:

My mother had a few records of this type - people you never heard of doing religious vanity recordings. I think they were impulse buys from TV adverts because I never saw the likes at Tower Records where I spent more time than I care to admit.

I notice that Beverly's page offers no samples of the albums. Why is that?

I see she also claims to have been an eyewitness to JFK's assassination, saying she was Beverly Oliver, who identified herself as the babushka lady. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babushka_Lady), Beverly Oliver worked as a singer and dancer at a strip club.

I remember there being a bunch of these 'Dummies for God' shows on in the early morning when I was a kid. A few records would always pop up at thrift stores. I'm kicking myself for not buying them.

Ventriloquist Ron Brown was later arrested for having his hand in the wrong place.

Little Marcie was the (wooden) queen of evangelical ventriloquism back from the 60s to at least 80s.

It just occurred to me that this lady and that "You got the right one, baby" guy from a few days ago should get together.

That picture is creepy enough, the act must have been worse.

Is that dummy wearing eye shadow? They remind me of clowns, and that movie "Magic" with the creepy dummy! :ahhh:

OMG! Magic was so scary! That's probably why I find it creepy too.

She sounds like a man when she tries to sing, but I got used to it.

I just found out about her in a recent YouTube episode of The Thinking Atheist with Seth Andrews.
