Brains and Bacon

I like bacon, but I think I'll take a pass on this. (via yuckylicious)

Down in southern Indiana there was a place that made a delicious fried pork or beef brain sandwich (your choice). Unfortunately now with new regulations I can't get one anywhere. It's like the new Armor Potted Meat food product. It used to have brains and tripe (stomach/intestines) in it. Now it's got chicken ... not the same taste I grew up with.

It is too early on a Saturday morning. I'll wait to see if Pavlov shows up!

When I was growing up on a farm we had a neighbor who would come over and just help himself to whatever food was around. One morning when my dad was making brains and eggs (beef brains from one of our cows) he started nibbling on the little patties of fried brains. He said something to the effect of "these are delicious, what are they?" Upon learning the answer he announced "they were excellent, but I will never eat them again."

My grandPa, Mom and Aunt Gertrude used to eat calves brains and onions with eggs for breakfast.
Also Mom would sometimes have brain and onion sandwitches for lunch or dinner. It doesn't taste bad but it's nothing I'd go out of my way to find!

What, no zombie jokes yet? I'm so disappointed in all of you!

Anyone who's repulsed by the idea of eating brains never thought about from what part of the body we get eggs.

Brains and scrambled eggs are not bad. This actually sounds good to me. Now, Kidneys I will pass.

Pavlov ~ I was at least expecting a referance to the DEA ad: "This is a WU brain on the on the aroma of BACON"!

Brains? No thanks. Don't want to end up with cavities in mine. Unlike most parasites, Mad Cow Disease prions survive cooking. It's not the yuk factor, it the eek factor that does it for me.
