Cabbage Walking

Artists in Kashmir have started walking cabbages (and other vegetables) on a leash, as a way to protest the ongoing military conflict over the region. One artist explains: "What I wanted to do basically is juxtapose the absurdity of this performance with what was happening around—the structures of violence that I was seeing around me."

These Kashmir artists cite the Chinese artist Han Bing as inspiration, because he was the first to "walk a cabbage."

This reminds me of how, according to legend, the French poet Gerard de Nerval used to walk his lobster through Paris.

What do you do with a cabbage with 3 balls?

Walk him and pitch to the broccoli.

And meanwhile their poor pet rock sits home all alone.

You know, BD, I actually thought about sending y'all pet rocks from here in Greece but, as none of you speak the language they'd just languish and die without conversational stimulation.

εἷς οἰωνὸς ἄριστος, ἀμύνεσθαι περὶ πάτρης

According to Google Translate, that means "Outstanding in omens, amynesthai About Patra."

It sounds like the Oracle at Delphi telling the city of Patras that her defences will hold. ???

My organic translator is offline at the moment and I don't expect it to reboot for, at least, another 45 minutes or so but when its O/S if up and running I'll feed it this info and see what it says.

Ok.. the translator is up and has reviewed the data. After several nanoseconds of whirring and spinning the general gist of the statement is that it's a good omen to defend your country. (πατρής is country but I took it for Πατράς which is a city).

So VC, where's you dig this one up and to whom is it accredited?

Το Χόβερκράφτ μου είναι γεμάτο χέλια

(This is the only phrase I know in Greek.)
