Chicken-flavored vegetarian ham

I have a hunch this doesn't taste anything like chicken, ham, or chicken-flavored ham. Product details at lamyong.com.au.

If you're vegetarian, why would you want meat-flavored food? Doesn't that rather spoil the idea of the exercise? How do you compare the flavor to see if it really does taste like what it claims it does?

Truth-in-advertising laws should be dropped on top of these fraudster's heads until they are bankrupt.

If you want to be a herbivore, fine. Be a cow, for all I care. But don't f#^@ing lie about it, you hypocrite.

Even my little daughter who is vegetarian thinks this is stupid and disgusting. She compared it to veggie burgers. At least she will eat eggs, cheese, drink milk etc .... She will also eat fish and seafood for some weird reason. Still a PIA but what does a parent do ?

Chicken flavored? Why chicken flavored if it is faux ham??

OOPS! Auto-correct nailed me.

Veterinarians Vegetarians are, already, an aberration and anathema to the species so this gunk fits right in.

TheCannyScot in Atlanta, GA: I am a vegan because I made a choice not to harm any sentiend beings. That does not have anything whatsoever to do with taste.

BrokeDad in Midwest US, your daughter is not a vegetarian, The Vegetarian Society defines a vegetarian as: "Someone who lives on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits with, or without, the use of dairy products and eggs. A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish* or by-products of slaughter."

Richard Bos in the Netherlands. Exactly what lie are you talkin about. This product contains Water, vegetable oil, textured Soy Protein (27%), whey protein, wheat flour, salt, soy sauce, vegetarian seasonings. NO MEAT.

Richard Bos in the NetherlandsIf All humans already are herbivores. and you are just plain ignorant.

Sorry, Shelia, but humans are omnivores and, I suspect, have been since the beginning, if not before. If that isn't so then what are those canine teeth doing in our face?

And, let's not forget the chips! Our 98% cousins are, also, omnivores.

sorry Expaat
Referenced on the GoVeg.com page is Dr. William C. Roberts, M.D., editor of the American Journal of Cardiology:

[A]lthough we think we are one and we act as if we are one, human beings are not natural carnivores. When we kill animals to eat them, they end up killing us because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings, who are natural herbivores.
When you look at the comparison between herbivores and humans, we compare much more closely to herbivores than meat eating animals. Humans are clearly not designed to digest and ingest meat.
Meat-eaters: have claws
Herbivores: no claws
Humans: no claws
Meat-eaters: have no skin pores and perspire through the tongue
Herbivores: perspire through skin pores
Humans: perspire through skin pores
Meat-eaters: have sharp front teeth for tearing, with no flat molar teeth for grinding
Herbivores: no sharp front teeth, but flat rear molars for grinding
Humans: no sharp front teeth, but flat rear molars for grinding
Meat-eaters: have intestinal tract that is only 3 times their body length so that rapidly decaying meat can pass through quickly
Herbivores: have intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length.
Humans: have intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length.
Meat-eaters: have strong hydrochloric acid in stomach to digest meat
Herbivores: have stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater
Humans: have stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater
Meat-eaters: salivary glands in mouth not needed to pre-digest grains and fruits.
Herbivores: well-developed salivary glands which are necessary to pre-digest grains and fruits
Humans: well-developed salivary glands, which are necessary to pre-digest, grains and fruits
Meat-eaters: have acid saliva with no enzyme ptyalin to pre-digest grains
Herbivores: have alkaline saliva with ptyalin to pre-digest grains
Humans: have alkaline saliva with ptyalin to pre-digest grains
Clearly if humans were meant to eat meat we wouldn't have so many crucial ingestive/digestive similarities with animals that are herbivores.

And there are 'educated' people who believe the earth is only 5,000 years old despite common sense evidence otherwise.

These MD's have told us that 'eggs will kill you' but, now, 'eggs are good for you' (again). Salt is now 'good for you' again.

One lone wolf howling in the night does not a pack make.

Here's one example where he shoots himself in the foot, "Meat-eaters: have sharp front teeth for tearing".

It is not my job or my wish to convince you or anyone else of my personal beleif. It is only relevant to me. You addressed your reply to me personally (Shannon not Sharon) and I replied to it to the best of my ability. I am sure if you search the internet you will find thousand of people who are happy to try to prove you wrong. I am not one of them. It is only my wish not to subject animals to slaughter the way we do. This happens because the desire and demand for flesh is so high. This is a personal belief.
Perception drives belief and visa versa. Your belief is your own personal truth and you have the right to it as I have to mine. And it is a real to you as mine is to me but while it is our own personal truth, it is not absolute truth. Many get that part wrong.
So I wish you well, I hope you don't sacrifice too many sweet sentient beings in your need for flesh and I will end here. Good Night

Sheila, doll, you're a moron and your so-called M.D. should have his degree, if he really has any, revoked instanter. Anyone who can't distinguish between "carnivore" and "omnivore" (and, indeed, is unprofessional and emotionally vested enough to have the psychological need to use the emotive term "meat-eater" instead of the scientific term "carnivore") should not be in any kind of biological discussion.

As for harming "sentiend" (learn to spell, dear) beings, well, try and meet a real pig, some day. They're lovely creatures, and if they got a chance they'd eat you as soon as I'd eat them (which is to say, with gusto). Pretending that animals are worth any more or less than we are is hypocritical - they'd readily eat us to survive, and we return the favour. Besides, "sentient"? I don't think that word means what you think it means - have you ever even seen a plaice?

(And yes, the producers lie. It may be vegetarian - it may even be vegan - but it definitely is not ham.)

In short, everything you write smacks of ignorance, lack of education, and a massive over-estimation of both your brain power and your morals. You're nothing but a failed hippy, and you should go back to the 1960's, to San Francisco, or by preference both.

Good lord, Richard, she's in Australia let's not get her any closer to us than necessary although, giving her to Mexafornia might be worthy of them.

BTW, should we ask her if the Aborigine invented the boomerang to scythe wheat?

BTW, WUverines, Richard and I agreed on not one but !TWO! (count them 1 - 2) topics today!!! 😉

Sharks have no claws. Therefore sharks are not meateaters. Who would have thunk it.
Humans have finger and toe nails. Cows don't. Therefore cows aren't human.
This logic reminded me of:

Have you noticed that people who usually can't formulate a decent response resort to insult. Your response says more about you than it does about me and it is not something you should be proud of. Sad.

Expat: it probably happens more than you think. I'm no AOL'er - if I have nothing to say except "I agree", I don't post. I do believe that neither of us suffers fools gladly, we just don't always agree on who the fools are.

(And Shannon, dear, there is no way to formulate a decent response to uninformed, hipstery nonsense except to point out that that's what it is. One can't argue with a vacuum, and I refuse to even try, beyond pointing out the most obvious errors - for the benefit of the audience only, of course.)

Of course humans are omnivores, thus the pointed 'eye' teeth. Early man hunted in groups to take down larger animals and so on. We were hunter gatherers. Meat AND plant eaters. The truth and millennia of human history cannot be changed by wishing it was not so.

Chiming in a bit late here but true WUvians are notified of all posts so, I'm sure, this will get to the most important people.

Read it and weep vegetarians!

Expat and Richard. Can I ask what it is about my choice, based on my belief, and I'm pretty sure we are all entitled to one, that I chose to be a Vegan. Why does it bother you so much that you insult and gang up on people who dare to extend their own point of view in a public forum. Why are you so angry that you need to bully someone to try to make them believe what you do. Why is it so important to you? Does it make you feel like a man because your method is less than convincing and goes even further than blatantly hostile? I expect you to either not answer or to answer in the same insulting way as prior. Why? Because your a bully and responding in a decent manner doesn't feed your ego and I suspect it probably needs feeding often.

And, there comes the buzzword of the week, BULLY.

You're the one, IIRC, that came up with the idea that humans aren't meat eaters. I'm the one that came up with a study that showed that omnivores were/are healthier than vegan/vegetarians. I was just trying to help you live longer.

Shannon, dear, you've not been paying attention. Around here we all tease one another and, generally, just have some fun with words. I don't give a hoot one way or the other if you, or anyone else, wants to be a vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, or an omnivore.
