Clown Art

If you're a collector of paintings of clowns, then you're probably already aware of Jim Howle. His website describes him as "the best-known clown artist in the world." He's actually the only clown artist that I know of, though I'm sure there must be others.

If you hang out long enough around here you'll get the idea that most of us think most 'artists' are clowns: it just happens that Alex actually found a legitimate one!

The only thing I ever found funny about clowns is those little cars they use at the circus.

Yes, Red Skelton. One of the funniest people ever. TV, movies whatever. Clown artist of the first order.
Evidence that clowns had a tough life. Read about his life. The only person honored at the Friars Club Roast where nobody said anything bad about him or even made a joke at his expense

Other than John Wayne Gacey? Donald Rust's paintings of headliner clowns like Emmett Kelly (pere et fils) and Lou Jacobs fetch a good price.

Georges Rouault painted clowns (and other circus performers) but that isn't really Clown Art.

There's someone who signs only as "Hoppin" whose works turn up here and there.

I hate clowns.

Mireille Mathieu. She is a renowned clown artist on top of a renowned singer from the seventies.

Don't worry Tyrusguy, I'll protect you from the creepy clowns honey.

Clowns don't scare me, but they don't impress me any either.
