Cockerel Dance

On Tuesday morning, South African artist Steven Cohen got out of a car near the Eiffel Tower and did a piece of performance art which involved him, dressed in a bird outfit, dancing around with a cockerel tied by a ribbon to his dangly bit. After ten minutes, the police arrested him and charged him with indecent exposure. His lawyer is now protesting, saying: "It’s a disgrace. With this performance, Steven Cohen wanted to evoke his situation, split between two countries." Makes perfect sense to me. [thelocal.fr]

He just chose the wrong spot to perform his act. Had he done it on the square in front of the Pompidoleum (the one with the Niki de Saint Phalle (sic - and the surname isn't even a stage name!) fountain), chances are nobody would've batted an eyelid.

Better than the little "deaf" girls around the Paris tourist attractions who persist in getting a signature on a petition and demand a donation to go away. (I usually put my hand over my mouth and ask to see their "nenes". The look of anger on their faces is priceless.)
