Before we ever heard of Spike Jones, and before my family even owned a record player, my older brother and I would watch the Wyatt Earp tv show and sing our own song, that began "Wyatt Earp, he makes me burp, brave courageous and bold..." and my parents would laugh with us.

Spike Jones was a genius and accomplished musician who someone let loose in a recording studio. My father introduced me to Jones with a 78 RPM recording of "Cocktails For Two". Even though I was a wee lad, I could recognize the work and satire that went into making those recordings.
