Ferret Out The Truth

If you travel to Argentina here's a tip for you, do not buy any cheap toy poodle puppies. They are ferrets on steroids with fluffy hairdos.

There are pictures at the link. I do not know how somebody could mistake even a fluffy ferret for a toy poodle. So here is one urban legend with some truth to it.

Riiiiiiiight.

It's a tabloid story on a variant of the Mexican Sewer Rat legend. Since it's a British tabloid the story is set in South America, but if the US tabloids pick it up they'll relocate it to Mexico.

Feh, the stupid Daily Mail write-up says that ferrets are rodents (they are actually mustelids). +1 to the theory that it's just a slightly-tweaked Mexican Sewer Rat tall tale.

I took my glasses off, back away from the monitor, and closed one eye and it still didn't look like a poodle.

Ferrets *DO* smell a lot like a wet dog - even when they are dry.

Shenanigans. DOUBLE shenanigans.

Ok, duly noted Frank, but why did somebody fluff up that ferret in the picture? That is weird itself.

I think the pictures are photoshopped. I doubt it's possible to fluff up a ferret that much, and even if it's possible it would surely be more effort than photoshopping up a pic.
