A sensory deprivation tank. I have heard of these, supposedly it is bad to spend too much time in one but I could see the benefits of some time in one.

Sensory deprivation tanks are supposed to help get you in touch with your inner self. I tried one, found out that deep down, I'm a jerk. Haven't used one since.

I've seen this before - "Altered States".

Had an eye injury in High School shop class. Spent 7 days in the hospital completely blindfolded (except the daily 5 minute dressing change). You will definitely get in touch with your inner self. Too bad I couldn't float, it would have been more comfortable.

Both eyes? What happened??

@ Patty
Just one eye. Piece of metal placed in the buffing wheel (a prank) flew out and hit me in the eye. Lost most of my central vision due to retinal scarring. Got to keep the eye though. No 3d movies for me. They just look extra fuzzy.
I did learn that no matter how bad you have it, someone else has it worse. The guy in the bed next to me had to have both his eyes removed. He handles the news with dignity and I will never forget that.

I am so sorry that happened to you GFnKS. Bad enough as an accident but as the result of a prank tragic. You are right though about someone somewhere having it worse.
