I don't see the problem here. Many kids had .22 rifles of their own. It taught them responsibility, safety and marksmanship. It got them out of the house and out from in front of the TV. It's only since we have started to instill this knee-jerk fear in them (and everyone else) that we started having the problems that we have today.

No problem with kids and .22s. Just wacky that he is going hunting with bear pals who might otherwise be prey. Are they quislings, leading him to their cousins?
