Follies of the Madmen #559

That endless red-carpet SFX is pretty impressive for the 1960s. Plus, an eight-track player!

So I guess the red carpet is standard equipment?

So was the 8 track player...

Too bad about the 8 track player concept - It was more stable at playing than the cassette tape but had a bad habit of the pinch roller drying out and causing wow on playback. Also there was the problem of a lack of rewind - you had to either listen to the whole tape again or get a cramp in your finger holding down the fast forward button and taking a guess as to where you were on the tape. Invented by Bill Lear of LearJet fame, it was better suited to a plane trip then an automobile.
