We had one on a rotary phone in the 1960's. Handy and don't remember what the picture on the side was.

Handy way to keep a pencil by the phone, wonder if they have one with the Flying Spaghetti Monster on it.

I remember the pen/dialers and the holder but I don't remember what advertisement was on them.

I'm looking at a magnifying glass/ruler/dialer right now. No pen, though; today the pen point is the end that would be most useful in dialing a phone.
