Global Warming Solved

Nike recently filed a patent application for "a golf ball that includes carbon dioxide absorbents in order that the golf ball may reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide levels to aid in alleviating global warming."

So if we all just play more golf, that global warming thing should be reversed in no time! [via Mother Jones]

The extra energy needed to make this more complex ball will produce more CO2 than the ball can ever absorb by a factor of a gazillion to one.

Ball-derdash! Now way enough golf gets played to even make a small dent. Not to mention the balls will be expensive and no one will buy them anyway.

The sun is the ultimate cause of global warming; so let us just blow up the sun?

Purely an advertising patent. And it's working - we're advertising it.

Anyway, you can't reduce global warming by playing golf, because golf itself is a major cause of hot air.
