Good News!

For those of us who are too tired to try and get back into shape (if we ever were in shape... I think I was in shape in high school twenty-some years ago). A recent study published in the journal Body Image claims that chubby men are as attractive as men with six-packs. The University of Queensland, in Australia, had participants rate mock-up advertisements for jeans, skin-care products and cologne featuring muscular male models and average looking men. Neither the men or the women in the study responded more favorably towards the muscular models. You can read more about the study here.

Wow! I just don't understand this one! Uber-hot men on billboards don't sell more French-water to other men than some normal looking Joe that most of us can relate to does?

And visual aids don't affect women as much as they do men? This is new? Someone paid good money to rediscover this factoid?

Anyhow, I can't wear any anymore. My wife got tired of fighting off the hoards of women chasing after me when I do. :coolsmile:

I think it's a good thing. The constant bombardment of "ideal body type" images that we are subjected to is part of the reason so many children develop eating disorders. I, for one, am tired of advertisers telling me how I should look and condemning me for not looking that way.

shoving stick figures in front of everybody as the ideal may sort of make some people feel like there is no use in trying with no chance of reaching the ideal.

Hubby says he doesn't have 6-pack abs --- he has a quarter-barrel. More to enjoy and better for a party.
