Ground Frog Day

Snohomish, Washington holds Ground Frog Day each year with their Meteorological Frognosticator, Snohomish Slew.
Snohomish Slew is a very large bull frog who gets center stage much like Puxtatwny Phil does in Pennsylvania on Groundhog Day. Frogorama 2010 was held on January 30, so unfortunately we have missed it for this year.
Oh well, there is always next year.

Jan 30 in PA!?! They'd have to thaw Snohomish Slew out first.

i'm gonna sound like a dummy, but is it warmer in washington than pennsyvania? you are right about thawing him out expat, as frogs are cold blooded. maybe that's how he predicts the weather. if he's moving around spring is coming, if he's a frogcicle 6 more weeks of winter.

If you mean Washington State, then, usually, yes. Florida, however, is warmer than both. Really!

We had our winter (here in Snohomish) back in December for about two weeks. We are now in the middle of a prolonged spring. Last year we had snow from before Halloween through early May, but this year we have had none! Go figure.
