Hair Rental—You know it makes sense

These hair rental ads ran for about five years in British papers. So I assume the company must have done decent business.

I've heard of wig rentals, but for some reason the idea of toupee rentals seems weirder.

Smart marketing!

A lot of people wouldn't want to buy on credit because it's something of a luxury.

Once they get a customer locked in, he's theirs for life. Over the years, those rental payments would add up to far more than they could hope to sell a toupee for.

I’m guessing that £180 must have been a lot of money back then to make toupee rentals attractive.
