Heelless Shoes

Heelless shoes by Antonio Berardi. They'll set you back around £1800, and they look pretty difficult to walk in. Unless, perhaps, you're a habitual toe-walker. via Kingdom of Style.

"Heelless" is a weird-looking word.

Apparently, the secret is the platform sole, which is longer than usual, to give the arch a little support. And not to wear them for too long. Wear them? You mean, like, *walk* in a pair of $3,000 shoes? Are you crazy?

Another innovation in woman's footwear lovingly brought to you by the AAOS.

Never Break A Heel Again!... break an ankle instead...

They put me in mind of "Flower Bowl Shoes" -- the less torturous answer of the Manchu to the barbaric Han practice of foot-binding.

Except that Flower Bowl Shoes actually make more sense than the ones pictured above, in that the pedestal was centered under the middle of the foot -- kind of like the string-and-tin-can stilts some of us may be old enough to remember making when we were kids.

When will there be shoes for those of us who walk on the sides of our feet?! Discrimination! DISCRIMINATION, I SAY!

I can not wear heels at all. I would surely break my ankle (like FBS said) in those things. Besides, they are really ugly shoes.

Patty, I agree with your sentiment there. Due to damage to my knees and ankles, I have to wear flats all the time.

Definitely not drinkin' shoes.

Then again there is the NPC phrase 'round heels' applied to some ladies.
I guess no heels is just a more sure way to the same result.

Strangely, I still see no mention in this thread of the old adage that, 'a girl in comfortable shoes is a Lesbian'.

You know, there's an ancient Greek saying that, literally translated goes, "A female in comfortable sandals is from the island of Lesbos."

(Keeping you people happy is a 24/7/365 job!)

Thanks, Expat - why do I feel it somewhat comforting that we/they have been torturing women's feet/posture/backbones for at least 2500 years? :wow:

That's a lot of money to pay for a pair of shoes that could get you injured. Can you imagine if someone bumped a girl while walking by in these shoes?
