Heirloom Bacon Club

The Pig Next Door is a bacon of the month club. They have the Traditional Club with slow smoked specially cured bacon delivered every month. Or there is the Heirloom Club, which features bacon from specific special breeds of pigs. If ever there was a club for WUvians I figured this was it.

If I wasn't living on a limited retirement income I would join in a heartbeat. I cook up two 1-1/2 lb packages of bacon at a time to get the drippings for cooking then use the bacon to make spaghetti sauce with bacon for meat.

That's some expensive bacon! 6monts = $99 for the bacon and $85 for shipping for a total of $184. Then there is an average of only 14oz (12 to 16oz per month) for 5.25lbs. That comes to just over $35 per pound!

Good point Expat. You could go to a high end butcher shop and get some bloody good bacon for a lot less than $35.00/lb. But the heirloom bacon club would still have a high snob appeal. Some people just seem to have more money than brains. Which explains the success of places like that.

$35 a pound?!? You'd think it was chocolate or something! 😉
