Home VCR:  1965

I really was unaware that home video outfits debuted as early as 1965.

Of course, there was the stated price range to consider, from $500.00 to $1100.00.

And the very first home sex videos were "born".

I remember that Bob Crane was an enthusiast of personal video equipment and that was around late-60's to mid-70's.

It was a very expensive hobby.

This is 10 years before Betamax and VHS. Even good quality audio recorders were quite costly.

Reel-to-reel, black and white, very poor resolution...but it must have looked like magic in 1965. It took the cassette to make it viable though.

The little TV (used as a monitor) was fantastic! It was 100x better than any other portable TV on the market.

There was considerable conjecture that Bob Crane's videotape predilections may have been involved in his murder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Crane#Murder_case_reopened

The biopic "Auto Focus" made Crane seem sadly creepy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_Focus

I bought one of those at a yard sale in 1972 for 50 bucks! It was loads of fun and the heads and tape path right on top made service easy! That said the tapes were only 20 mins and editing could only be done with scissors and scotch tape!
