Can't Possibly Be True: Hundreds of employers blatantly violate federal law by screwing our soldiers in Iraq
It's as plain as day that employers can't discriminate against their Nat'l Guardsmen et al who get pressed into active duty. Who doesn't know that? But a Des Moines Register investigation revealed that it's happened at least 203 times in Iowa since 9-11, and probably several thousand times nationally, according to Labor Dept. figures. I read this early in the day and part of it kind of bugged me all day- The kiss-ass attitude of the NG General towards businesses.
His job should be to look out for his men, to make sure that they are educated about their rights and opportunities. Not white-wash what appears to be a serious problem.
These are young and inexperienced veterans of what, for most of them, will be the most dramatic and horrifying experience of their lives and for the most part want to put that behind them.
Most businesses probably do do the right thing but my experience as a veteran tells me that all-too-often these young men will just let it go, move on, find another job or worse, blame themselves.

It is exactly the attitude of people like the previous poster that allows this travesty and injustice to persist. If you don't want to read it, fine. But quit your whining.
