It’s Not Good To Be A British Patient

Belinda Waite, 21, of Bampton, England had a rough 9 months leading up to February 6th of this year. She was in and out of the hospital with diagnoses of irritable bowel syndrome and gout. Finally, on the 6th of last month, doctors told her she was 3 months pregnant. They sent her home telling her to make an appointment for a prenatal check up. Just 3 hours later she was brought back to the hospital by her husband where she gave birth to an 8 pound 4 ounce baby girl, Louise. Can't get them all right I guess.

This is an argument for socialized medicine! Look at all the money they didn't need to spend on prenatal checkups, vitamins, Lamaze classes, etc!

Ok I think we all get the "socialized medicine is horrible" arguement because she obviously needs to change doctors. My question is HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOUR PREGNANT? There are signs like getting fat. Feeling the baby kicking you? etc...

Not realizing you're preggers isn't that rare. 8lbs of baby isn't much of a dent against 350lbs of woman. Add in a dash of stupidity and !viola! you've got a socialized health care system.
