One of the people I most admire in the struggle against this sort of chicanery is James Randi.

I understand how desperate hope for a cure of a chronic / fatal disease can take hold in one's psyche and I have pity for those who are in that position. My disgust is directed at the confidence men and tricksters who take advantage.

Obviously he's a charlatan, my mom (and countless others) have died of Cancer since his 'cure'. False hope is one of the worst tortures there is. Perhaps this man got his just desserts later and the big C got him too.
