Key to Our Horizons

As we contemplate Peak Oil and other scary scenarios, here's a look back at a time when the automobile was king.

Note the "busy street". You know, the one you could walk across blindfolded at peak rush hour and miss all the cars. I get clogged up in traffic on my scooter in a country where the white line is the scooter lane and sidewalks are detour paths!

you ride a scooter? if you get jammed up in traffic on a scooter then it must be complete gridlock over there. those big old '50's cars are cool paul.

Patty, gave up 600lbs of Kawasaki for a lighter weight scooter. Easier on the back, reverse works better, and it gets around town better.

I had a '51 Plymouth. Looked just like those Chevys.

How did we ever survive those days!?! Cheap booze, cigarettes cost a buck a carton, no seat belts, airbags, or child booster seats, kids running wild after dark, and countless other shameless, forbidden stuff like that.

Oh, yea, I forgot to mention that when some kid acted a fool the closest adult administered (hide your eyes oh you weak of heart) corporal punishment followed by a full, verbal report to the parent which (gasp and horror) resulted in yet another psychologically damaging viscous pummeling!

and since then all those safety features have expanded the shallow end of the gene pool and lack of disapline have sxrewed up the world for us sensible people.
was the kawasaki a touring bike? it sounds like it was a big mother. the scooter is probably great on fuel as well.

Yup, the Vulcan Classic. A friend has it now and it is still loved.
