Why, he was old enough to be her great-great grandpa!

Now if his son married her mother . . . I think there's a song in that somewhere.

He'd be cradle robbing if he married a woman the age of his number of children.

According to the pet theory (half your age plus seven), he should have been looking for someone no younger than 62.5 years old.

I doubt any woman that age would have him because they wouldn't want to go back to raising children.

Or changing diapers.

He's like the Freys in Games of Throne; he could get an army out of his breeches. Also, because he's an old vulture who married a girl young enough that he could woo her by bringing her lollipops, and expects her to bear him children.

In an article about this marriage from the August 11, 1953, Gastonia (N.C.) Gazette, the last paragraph read as follows:

Ogburn said he used to be strong. "'Bout six or seven years ago I won a cuttin' contest with a axe down here at Washington," he drawled.

The skeptic in me feels compelled to note that the odds that this guy was actually 111 years old are very low. Age inflation is a well-known phenomenon among old folks.

"Now if his son married her mother" - for a minute I thought this was a transgender comment. Which brought to mind a quote about illegal transgenders complaining about strip searches. What is wrong with these phrases from the article: "They made her lift her penis, ..." and "made OA physically lift her testicles".

Excellent quote, Fritz G!

You're right about the real age, Alex. If he had a 79-year old son, that would have made him 32 when he had his first. Not likely he would have held out that long. He doesn't look much older than most 80-year olds.
