Most Televised Girl in America

Was the rightful bearer of this distinction Rita Morley?

Or was it Sue Read?

Morley's claim is better documented. I can't really learn much about Read other than this:

Anyhow, who could rightfully claim the title today?

Fro movies, patty, true. But for TV? Could it be one of the cooking show gals? Snooki? Any female host of a morning show?

I'd say Vanna White, for sheer air time. These days, there isn't really any one woman who is just *everywhere* on TV.

Good choice of Vanna, TCS!

IMO, the market is too saturated for any one woman to be pegged as "most" shown on television. Obviously it was much easier to apply the moniker when broadcasting was in its infancy. And I'm just a bit young to remember either of the two women in today's spot, especially Sue Read. I see that the advert from LIFE is dated 1940.

Although, I do agree a bit with TCS. White has been with that program from the beginning for, what, 30 years? Certainly famous for that, but it has been a somewhat shallow role as a career.

I can't think of her name or face ... just the cleavage and boobs 😉

Barbara Walters? Started on-camera on "Today" in 1961, so she's had 50 years to rack up the hours.

Walters is a great choice. I was thinking too of Oprah.

The only way I could argue with Barbara Walters is by mentioning some of the soap opera matriarchs like Jeanne Cooper, Mrs. Chancellor on Young and the Restless. There are others as well who have played on the soaps forever and a day she is just the first to come to mind.
