Actually, I failed to make the obvious joke: the loyal, honest Boy Scout is signalling: THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM ON THIS VW BUS IS CORRUPT!

He's signalling the letter R in semaphore. As in, "R we gonna die out here?"

The Jokes and pranks ad page on page 59 really got my attention. I remember that very same page in comic books from back then. The black soap, werewolf mask, etc. Amazingly the prices on the stuff is about what you'd pay NOW for that crap at a dollar store. Shows how much they were gouging you back then if you ever bought it. I often wondered if anyone did.

"I'm going to make this Volkswagen disappear. See, I have nothing up my sleeves..."

KDP, if there was EVER a time to buy a stock it's NOW and it's VW! These people survived WWII and they're not the 1st to pull this stunt.

All this hype on the news outlets about customers loosing faith is, I'll bet, mostly bull 'cause the bottom line is that VW owners have been enjoying better gas mileage for years. And if anyone stops to think about it, the US is not THE GREAT POLLUTER by a long shot.

Wait until the pope stubs his toe and the new cycle forgets about VW and lets see what REALLY happens with the consumer. As far as the billion dollar fines, that's just the gubments greedy grab 'cause you KNOW none of that money will be going for anything other than pork or ObamaPhones.

Of course, Expat. Very few are alive to recall the amount of smoke and fog (smog)that hung over cities due to unburnt hydrocarbons from motor vehicles. Air quality in the U.S. is so good now that the regulatory agencies must find ways to further burden the citizens to justify their existence.

I find it humorous that the emissions testing engine management switch went on for so long before it was noticed.
