If you've ever eaten in an older armed forces cafeteria, those thick ceramic cups would be a clue. I worked at McClellan Air Force base in its last few years before closing and those cups were the best at keeping hot beverages for a long period of time. This was in the day before the widespread insulated mugs we see today. I stole two from the cafeteria for use at my desk and kept them when I left employment.

I recognized those trays and cups even though it's been almost fifty years.
