$50,000 in 1958 dollars is equivalent to over $400,000 in today's dollars. I guess to a burglar in 1958 typewriters were like today's expensive electronic gadgets.

I guessed it was a clearance sale held by a typewriter manufacturer. The jackets hanging in the back would make a good addition to what passes for fashion in my wife's closet.

Items left behind at a Smith-Carona salesmen's convention? Hanging in the back are the fur stoles some hookers forgot.
