It appears that most of the "roaches" she deals with are in an ashtray (probably on a stand in the living room, next to the La-Z-Boy).

Many of those products contained arsenic. Arsenic poisoning is very unpleasant. IIRC it is a nerve suppressor and you end up suffocating to death.
