Palcohol

Palcohol, powdered alcohol, sneak it into 'dry' venues or places where booze is prohibitively expensive. The makers say it can even be snorted, but use responsibly. It has been approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau and should be available this fall.

Update: After all the hype the Feds say maybe not.

Is this new tech? I thought alcohol turned to gas like water, so does this mean we can make powdered water now?!?! Just add water ha ha!

Erm... why!?. What's the bleedin' point of merely getting sloshed without any of the taste of a decent beer, whisky or wine?

Also, yes, pure alcohol is a liquid at room temperature, not a crystal. So the bumf about this being pure alcohol in powder form is lies-in-advertising, unless it also includes a physics-lab-standard super-freezer.

(By the way, the main page still says all articles are © Alex, Paul or Chuck - shouldn't Patty get a mention as well, as her byline is under some of the articles?)

If this had been announced on April 1st, I wouldn't have been at all surprised.

The only good thing I can see about this is that it will take some of the heat off the folks who are ready to blame pot for everything that happens to today's youth. Now, instead of pot-fueled lunacy making the headlines, it will be powdered-alcohol-fueled lunacy.

If anyone wants to get up a pool for how long it will take for some nitwit to snort this stuff, I'll take the sub-one-minute bracket.

Richard's perfectly correct. Maybe the coating that turns it into powder granules is Bourbon flavored? It seems to me that I remember hearing of Japan (whodathunkit?) coming up with instant sake.

Could give a whole new meaning to the phrase "I don't drink"
