Pinball Champ

,Josh Henderson 12, is ranked 25th in the U.S. and 75th world wide in pinball. He has played since he was 4 yrs. old, and has competed in tournaments for the last 5 years. His dad says he competes against 30 to 40 yr. old professionals and remains cool and steady. He's some kid. Question, there are professional pinball players?

i was suprised that there is a world championship for pinball. also, one of our own here at wu has a big interest in pinball maachines. so bd post us a link to your pinball site if you wish. this kid is pretty impressive, he stands against people much older with years of experience and does well, that's cool.

I used to love pinball but it's almost impossible to find a machine that has been maintained, the slope is less than 25%, and there aren't a batch of gum-chewing, knee-kicking, screaming, miscreants bumping into it. And that's in the US! Here in Greece, not a chance.

My best was about 10hrs on a nickle. Alvie (bar owner) unplugged the machine with 20+ games still on the counter!

I currently own seven pinball machines. If anybody is interested in anything pinball you can talk with us on http://www.pinside.com

We have several European members Expat47 including the owner of the site who lives in the Netherlands.

I am a moderator there.

Thanks for the invite, BD. I'll run over and have a peek. Sorry in advance if I get tears on your pages though.

That is a wild and cool website, BD. And I agree with your sentiments, Expat. I have loved pinball since childhood, and I mourn the demise of the genre in everyday life. The last good nickel machine I played was in Louisiana in 1983. Now, it seems, the hobby is relegated to the expensive competition and ownership arena, like most other 'used to be cheap fun' pastimes. I would still love to play pinball, if it weren't for Uncle Arthur telling me I can't, anymore. Good luck to this kid!

About the best I could do in pinball was a good few minutes on my old Gameboy. I was awful on actual machines in the arcades.
