Rusty Trash Can

We have a new addition to our ongoing series about overpriced merchandise.

The Atlantic directs our attention to the "West Village Corrugated Can" which Anthropogie is currently selling for $99.95 (on sale from $148). Yes, it's a rusty trash can.

Anthropologie even offers cleaning instructions: "Wipe with dry cloth." I assume a wet cloth might further rust it, which wouldn't be good.

Can you spell 'Trash' without using the letter "arte povera"?

You can sell anything to hipsters. They're the very definition of easy marks.

I still have one of these. Slightly older, strip down model. It doesn't have the rope handle, just the plain old metal one. Mine does have the aftermarket drilled drainage holes in the bottom though.

...but it is "imported" and "handmade" according to the site so MUST be worth the price (wtf and an eyes roll on both those terms). Maybe "handmade" is referring to the improvised rope lid handle? And one of the three reviews gave it 4 of 5 stars!
