The Continuing Adventures of the Little Cardiff Giant

The Little Cardiff Giant recently wound up his travels through New Zealand. Some pictures are below.

As you may remember, lil' CG is touring the world, hosted by readers from WU and MOH. His world tour started in Southern California, then he went to Perth, and then NZ. His next stop, if all goes according to plan, is Melbourne.

My administrative duties as the coordinator of his tour went a little awry at first. I should have created a master list of everyone who volunteered to host him, but instead I just let emails accumulate. So now I'm trying to piece together a list retroactively. This is what I have -- but if I missed someone, or you want to be added to the list, let me know.

  • Alex -- San Diego
  • Nettie -- Perth
  • Sean -- New Zealand
  • G Beattie -- Melbourne
  • C Barrett -- Melbourne
  • M Anto -- Brisbane
  • J Scharff -- Japan
  • C Morgan -- British Columbia
  • Oppiejoe -- Michigan
  • Tah -- Idaho
  • dbrunker -- Portland
  • Crafty Dragon -- Montana
  • G Pylant -- Texas
  • K O'Brien -- Philadelphia

Very cool list! I was under the impression you were in Great Britain for some reason Alex.

I spent a large part of my childhood in the UK (long enough to warp me) and married a Brit. But San Diego's been my home for the past 20 yrs.

You were ready for some sunshine and have not tired of it yet huh? 😊

Athens & Greece will host our guy. He may even catch a ride to Ireland if the timing is right.

While in Michigan, you should get a picture with one of the originals. The owner of Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, a coin-operated game arcade and museum of oddities in Farmington Hills, Michigan, claims that the replica on display there is Barnum's replica.

Rich -- I've visited Marvin's Museum. Love it. But his giant definitely isn't Barnum's replica (though I know Marvin says the guy who sold it to him claimed it was). Of course, when discussing Cardiff Giants, getting too stuck on issues of authenticity does kind of miss the point.

If LA is considered different enough from San Diego, I'd be happy to host. There is a chance I will be traveling myself, so he might get to see Brazil, India, or Boston. 😊

I would be happy to host him to see some great natural wonders. I live 1 hour from Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Zion Nat. Park, Bryce Canyon, and the grand Staircase Nat. Monument, as well as numerous state parks in Southern Utah. Send him along if he needs to be pictured in any of those places.

I wouldn't mind hosting him for a little while. I can take him all over Columbus, and maybe even make a trip to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati.
