The School For Vampyres

Apparently Vampyres have to go to school, just like everybody else. (I don't know if Vampyres are different than Vampires, or if it's just a more pretentious spelling of the same.) I think a degree from this school would be a great addition to my resume:

It is our desire that our School for Vampyres address the Vampyre at all levels, and that our teachings have a practical application in the world. Hence, all of these are steps towards the formation of a more compleat Setian, a more compleat Vampyre...
There will be those who first learn more about the Arkte Element here, who then Become Warriors. There will be others who first learn of the MetaMind Element here, and who will then specialize in it...
Applicants will be considered for admission to the Order by an existing Master of the Order (preferably), or by a III ° + member of the Order at large, or by one of the Grand Masters themselves. In most cases, if a Master of the Order deems a Setian is appropriate for the Order, that Setian's membership will almost always be guaranteed. In all cases, however, the decision to admit a Setian will be at the sole discretion of one or both Co-Grand Masters.

So do the "Otherkin" come before or after this school?

What does a "mastership" cost these days?

Oh, there's so much more to see there Dave ... first, you can start with the original home page for their website. Apparently the school is just an order of The Temple of Set. There are seven orders and a bunch of mini-orders, called Pylons, and even more information from the Australian version of the website. It's a smorgasbord of Dark Delight!

However, if the Headmaster of the Boston Latin school is to be believed, there are no vampires in her school!

As soon as Jeff mentioned Anton Lavey, I stopped thinking these Anne-Rice-vampire-wannabes (redundant?) were just a pack of losers and started thinking they are a pack of losers in a Satanic cult.

Trust me, we do. There is a time and place for dreams and games, but delusions are never welcome. 😉

Patty - I'm an old school table top gamer. I remember playing D & D back as far as the mid 80's in middle school. The game, mind you, was purchased for me by my parents even during the whole fiasco with the supposed kids running around sewers and getting themselves killed because they really thought they were their characters.

I've made hundreds, possibly a thousand characters in my gaming life. Not one do I believe is me, nor do I believe I am any of them. But each is part of me, and I part of them. I just hope never to meet any of my more memorable ones. Greatest compliment I ever got in a gaming session was I could play a believable sociopath.

The nice ones, they just don't leave as deep a mark on the memory.

I've always loved the people who see vampires as romantic icons, and not the vicious, inhuman parasites that they really are. That was actually one of the points of Vampire: The Masquerade, the first big White Wolf game. You had a Humanity rating and when you lost it, game over Jack, you character was lost to the Beast (Vampiric Hunger) and probably hunted down and killed by other vampires. There was always the rumor of Golconda, the hope that through shunning the Beast inside, you could once again become human, spiritually, mentally and physically.

That is why these people are rejects. They strive for their self perceived uniqueness in those who feel the same so they can conform nicely to everyone and still feel special. This is why these so called Order's are rejects because the prey upon the weak and fragile by allowing the fantasy for personal gain of whatever kind.

At least the Otherkin acknowledge their unromanticness.
