Ya ever notice how every S/F writer from Asimov, Bear, and on down to the hacks that put this one together thought the whatever you build in space should be ROUND like a wheel, ball or, at least a long, large cylinder and, yet, when the modern day scientists finally got around to it they built this!

Spacecraft only need to be aerodynamic if they are going to be used in air.

Wow, typical for Brit sci-fi.

Tinfoil dresses.
Acceleration seats made from egg cartons.
Sneaking up on someone even though vacuum carries no sound to alert the victim.
And the villain escapes in a phallus shaped vehicle.

Derek Fowlds will appear in a BBC comedy a few years later titled "Yes, Minister" and its sequel "Yes, Prime Minister." Both of these are recommended viewing.

So many funny things here:

1. The "docking sequence" in the credits. Where exactly is the entrance to the ship? Do they just open the middle section of the windshield and crawl out through there? There's absolutely nothing that could be a hatch!

2. Music: I can just hear the production meeting: "Lets get someone singing in a high pitched voice, just like Star Trek, only different, only n0t SO different it doesn't SOUND like Star Trek, only not so similar that we get sued. Clear?" Even the background music in the cut scenes sounds ripped off.

3. LOVE the blue painted packing foam chairs.

4. Yes in the future we STILL have black and white video screens.

5: When Logik's face appears in the view screen shot of the exploding base, his chin and the top of his head extend beyond the edges of this screen. So, they don't have color transmission but they do have holographic capabilities?

6: WHY on the spaceship, is the main view screen placed to the extreme RIGHT of the direction the Solarnauts are sitting. What a crick in the neck the must have! Hasn't the future heard of ergonomics?

7: When she first appears, Kandia picks up a chunk of "martian" rock with the intent to bop one the the Solarnauts over the head with it. She's prevented from doing this , but seriously, what was she hoping to accomplish? He was wearing a quite large SPACE HELMET.

8: Um yeah gotta mention the bow on the helmet.

9. Tempo's dialogue at 15;10. As the patrol craft goes through the airlock doors, he says "Look it's going through the airlock doors" ENTER.... CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

10. The shaky enclosed ladder Tempo climbs after Kandia is captured. This is what happens when you contract space stations to the lowest bidder.

11. Why does the lever Logik 'pushes" at 22:10 look like a Volkswagon Logo?

12. Logik's escape pod. Was that a huge yellow vibrat...er...no it couldn't be!

13. "Tri-S regulation forbid the carrying of female passengers. Space fleet will relieve you of her! " WHAT?

BUT: 14. "Security Space Fleet will rendezvous with you in two hours"
HMMM What to do to pass two hours????

BONUS comment:

Caption for the still shot used above.

"Man , I can't wait to get out of this spacesuit! I gotta PEE soo bad!!"

@KDP: Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister go way beyond a "should be seen" to HAS TO BE SEEN. This is some of the funniest stuff to ever come out of BBC. Faulty Towers with John Cleese is another land mark comedy.

Brit S/F really (or very, very rarely) even brushes up against science. 99/100 I'll immediately change channels even before it starts if I see any connection to UK.

@Expat47 -- You can only have a large ball, wheel, or cylinder if you stick-build it in space. The ISS is like a modular home, just rooms bolted together. The pressurized portions are small cylinders. And please tell me you don't change channels when the little Blue Box comes on -- the show is sheer perfection. And, of course, Red Dwarf is an absolute must-see.

Never heard of either one. The Little Blue Box doesn't even appear on IMDb.

Marvelous and funny exegesis, Boyd!

Phideaux, a modular home? Kinda like giant shipping containers? After all you need water AND air for rust to develop right? 😉

@Patty -- Right! They're basically parts of the transportation system adapted for permanent habitation.

Ran across this on Youtube looking for old sci-fi a couple of months ago. Yes it was bad, but did not seem to take itself seriously and was enjoyable. Now the Timetunnel remake on the other hand......
Expat47-I think Phildeaux implies Dr. Who by "little blue box"; Red Dwarf deserves more recognition than it gets.

Could be. Can't just can't do Dr. Who.
