@KDP -- if you really want an answer, it's on your head if you google "Balut" and imagine starting with a robin's egg instead of a duck egg. (I accept no responsibility for gagging, nightmares, or any other reaction which results from anyone viewing images or information about that 'delicacy.' But for goodness sake, whatever you do, stay away from that YouTube video showing how to prepare and eat them anywhere in the range from very-hard to gushy!)

Phideaux, I'm familiar with the balut. One of my co-workers from many years ago was a Philippine native and brought one to lunch one day. He was told not to do that again.
