If you didn't click over to see the 'full size view' you should do so. It's an 8x10 glass negative and while the camera & lens aren't mentioned you can bet the lens was 3 to 5 elements of hand ground glass. Modern lenses are good but NOTHING beats glass.

That resembles some of the scenery I've seen in recent Bond movies. I'm told there a large numbers of these formations along the southeast Asian coast.
